I confess, I stole the idea from hungrycorgistudio, where there is a very clever and interesting piece using two tangles and color to create a...flag!
Well, arukas was on my mind, and ribbons, and this is what I came up with.
It was fun playing with a shading technique I recently learned for prismacolor pencils, and I like the riff on color here: turquoise and magenta rather than the primary red and blue. I posted this on my cubicle...I am on an intersection, the first cubicle on the floor when you come in the entrance near the conference room. I wonder if people will recognize it as an American flag.
What a lovely interpretation of a flag. I knew this week was going to be interesting going around everyone's blogs and finding out where they live. For some reason I had no idea you were in the USA. If I thought about it at all I vaguely thought you were in the UK lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks...I think because I've read so much in English authors. I'm even a teeny bit familiar with Yorkshire because of my love for Herriot...
DeleteWoWzEr! That is absolutely stunning. What a clever and original take on the challenge. Even though you lifted the idea, your interpretation is wonderfully unique.
ReplyDeletethank you...I enjoyed doing it.
DeleteI love your beautiful colors and they way of interpretation of this challenge!
ReplyDeleteVery effective shading in color. I need to google that, so I can learn how to do it. I also like your spin on the flag. All the straight stripes and neatly arranged stars in the standard version can get somewhat monotonousness. So, did any of your co-workers recognize the flag?
ReplyDeleteMaybe not recognizable as the US flag, but a gorgeous tile!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful interpretation and beautiful color! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWow. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAppropriating from other artists is how much of our best work starts. And this is really lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour tile is beautiful, especially the shading of the colours- stunning!
ReplyDeleteVery creative and flowing. Your shading is excellent!
