B'Twined, Served on a Bed of X

Joey has us circling still. :) and it has been a lot of fun. I haven't entered a piece every time, but I have been following along.

This week, our string is a circle with an X thru it, and the pattern is B'twined. I love these patterns that take on an over-under effect as you go. B'twined and Navaho are both faves of mine, related but very different to look at, in the end.

Well, anyway, I played around with it some. Finished up this one yesterday afternoon

I like it a lot, but as I was shading along the edge of the "disc" it occurred to me that wrapping all of the ends "around" (Aquafleur style) would look pretty cool

So I started over and ended up with this:

When I drew the first one, I had already lined the circle with my 1 micron pen. With the second, I left the circle in pencil and then tried to make the ends "wrap", and I put shading "under" all the b'twined.  I like them both! I prefer the big X in the first sample, the smoothness of it pleases me.

This was a fun challenge, and a really fun tangle! I'm all set to play with it some, and get more of an Over-Under effect by alternating the lines.
