Zingo. By Jingo!

Hokey blog entry titles aside, I have had fun with Zingo this week.

It's a cute, funny little pattern developed by a couple of kids, whose tutorial video is available at the zentangle.com blog

Little cuties. And they have developed a fun tangle, with lots of scope for creativity!

This was my first go at it:

I love how the spirals sort of lift off, upward from the "petals" that sort of lie flat.

And it has such an easy going, goofy fun look, I thought of coloring it in...with crayons!

They smell as good as they look!
So, I decided to make a new Zingo, and embellished it a LOT:

I think it would be wonderful, completely packed with little details!

But I decided to color it.

The problem was, I didn't select a color scheme and stay with it. It's still fun and funny looking, but not all that pleasing, when it comes right down to it. Maybe with this kind of haywire color palette, it needs markers.

So, I had another go:

Kept this one a bit simpler with the embellishments, and chose just a few colors to work with. This is how it ended up:

NOICE!

It's so much better with the unity of color, isn't it? But I'm looking forward to playing with it some more, with markers to color in, and as an elegant, glittery piece...which I've seen in a few entries this week already.

I've also gone ahead with the IAST challenge for the week

Fricle has been a favorite for a long time, and I had a tile already colored. This one was finished before I could get any zinger in there, but I really like how it looks so...it had to be finished.

It'll go on someone's desk for St Paddy's day! woot! (not green, not a shamrock, nor much Celtic about it. Oh, well.)

But these are quite Celtic looking, aren't they?

The little solo one is the same stone as the blank in the top picture. I found these pebbles while out on a walk, and shellacked them with clear nail polish. Then tangled some celtic looking stuff on them.

Enjoyed all the challenges this week...so far. I will probably get caught up with the Joey Challenges soon.

  1. Different and beautiful. Funny, I tangle on pebbles first and after finishing I use some varnish.

    1. I tried doing the tangling first, then varnish. That's the smeared one LOL

  7. You have been a very busy tangling bee! I think you achieved really nice depth with your black, white and shaded first try. Maybe I'm just feeling zany (probably why they call me Mrs. Excitement), but I quite like the colored version without the unified color scheme. It's joyful and playful---in other words, Zingy.
